You might never heard it before, but dogpile was firstly introduced in 1996 and created by Aaron Flin. Dogpile search engine is included in meta search engine type. This type of search engine combine results from other search engine. Mainly, dogpile combine the results from Google, Yahoo, MSN (Bing), Ask , About, and more.

Dogpile also earned as the best residential online search engine service in two years in a row (2006 and 2007) in J.D. Power and Associates award

Altavista might not be familiar to be used as primary search engine, as a matter of fact some of us might heard about it the first time in here. But there are some group of people using altavista as their secondary search engine, they claimed that certain features altavista offers help them out doing some searched.

Before we discussed it more, lets have a look at its short history. Altavista is owned by Yahoo Groups in 1996-1998, but then sold to Compaq, altavista were design as web portal back then, with great expectation it could reach the same popularity as Yahoo does.
